Here are some questions / ideas / observations I have re: v2.0 (in no particular order)
1) In order to get prompted to reenter your team and name you must delete the client.cfg file from your previous F@H install (there may be other ways around tis, but it worked for me)
2) It looks like your stats are reset.
3) I renamed my old fah.exe (console) to xfah.exe and renamed the new console program to fah.exe. This is to see if it will work with Electron Microscope. And it seems to work just fine. I am not sure if EM will track the protein progress accurately or get your stats (although mine now say zero :( ). But it does look like it launches correctly and everything.
4) If the status really are reset for the users, then they must be for the teams and if they are for the teams, we need to get EVERYONE moved to 2.0 ASAP.
5) For Win2K / NT users, the folding program actually appears to be Core_65.exe not fah.exe (in case you saw fah.exe at zero CPU).
Those are my thoughts and such after about 10 minutes of tinkering and stuff.
Please add your ideas / thoughts / questions to help each other figure this thing out completely.

i just put on 2.0 and it works ok. whatever protein i'm folding, its going fast. i think i'm gonna try using em so i dont have to have see the console running.

********SECURITY CONCERNS FOR NEW 2.0 CLIENT********

It should be using both the fah.exe(or in this case winFAH) and the core65.exe at the same time??
Also you should really move your old FAH folder and let the new one install fresh. Not sure it's 100% necessary but it seems to keep it cleaner and it will allow you to keep the clients completely separate from one another. Just a thought.
Also--- the security hole from binding MS Client to TCPIP stack. That can open a serious security hole, but it seems that DSLReports has found a way to close it as have some other folks in the FAH2 group. If it works then that is good news and should help to ease a few minds. ;)
Now on to the thing that is sort of torquing my screws at the moment. There was a message in the FAH forum that said "1.xx is not going away. If you're unhappy with 1.xx then try 2.0 otherwise just keep using 1.xx"
What was the point of going to the new client stats system and will we now have two folding teams instead of one?? Will they be able to merge the stats so that credit goes to the whole team?

This was my big question, too. I set 2.0 up on one of my folders last night but decided to let the other boxes finish what they were working on. Tonight I'll switch the rest over but this is an issue we need to get clarified. Unless they combine the stats we'll be working against ourselves.

hum, if you are running winNT, i dont think EM works at all... since fah.exe is 0% processor, and core_65.exe is 99%.
tried renaming it, but that makes the program not work at all. no EM for now.
Hmm, I'm not showing up on the stats for some reason. I'll try and figure it out when I get home. I'm going to make a post in GD so people switch over, and we can get ahead in the new stats.

so will old stats eventually be carried over? or is this all gonna be from scratch?
doh...just set up my bro using the proxy settings (yippee)
he has a PIII 450....and they gave him a 200 unit work load!!!! ouch!!!!
i have a t-bird 1 gig and i finished the 20...and they gave me another 20....
are the measurements just skewed? i really hope so....otherwise that PIII is never gonna finish....
I got a wu with 400 frames yesterday, but they're going pretty quickly.

This seems to be happening a lot. I noticed though, that when I set up the text only version that it didn't get a user ID for me. I don't remember what I did but eventually I received one. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment, but my stats aren't advancing as quickly as I think they should either. It may be a problem with the text client. I also had two headless systems that were locked up this morning that were running the graphical client. Not sure why they locked up. Maybe it was just the changes that I made over the LAN that caused it.
I tried the console and it didn't work at all. It couldn't connect to the server. But the graphical client works fin and dandy like sour candy!

I didn't get a user id on a couple of my machines and i think those units are just being turned in without credit going to us....i wonder if there is a way to fix this...
I can't remember how but I screwed around and got one. I think I deleted the work and made the client reconnect to get fresh work, but cannot remember. I don't think you'll get credit without an ID.
This is from the client config on the original installed client

username=pickleloaf
team=32
asknet=no
userid=1508397D12AF7F79
local=1

active=no

host=http=localhost
This is my client.cfg on the second client on the same machine.....It's missing a few things. I created this client by simply dropping the text version in it's own folder and created a shortcut with the -local switch. This is also the client that did not have a user ID. I shut down both clients. and this is the one that I think I deleted the work on before restarting. I wish I could remember. Suppose I could try it again and see what happens.

1) Yeah or you could just right click on the tray icon and configure. Works either way.
2) Not reset just starting at zero. Our old stats are still out there. Personally this doesn't bother me at all but HardOCP is having huge problems with it.
3) skip
4) Agree!!!
5) :)

i run 2000 and boath fah2console.exe and core32.exe are runing. if i end core32.exe fah downloads a new unit and starts core32.exe again(??) so i think fah2console.exe is just the gui. so there for if you want better proformence you could just rn core32.exe? might have to see.
The core65.exe is responsible for the calculations. The client console controls the transfer of data etc. If you check your logs you'll notice that the client turns the core65 on to start and turns it off when the work is complete. Then it restarts the core65.
