Saw this at FatWallet:

Guild Wars promises the cure for online role-playing gaming tedium, with fast-paced action right out of the gate, and a “mission-based” game design that sustains the action with cinematic, story-driven gameplay.

Trial is good for 10 hours or 14 days. I filled in the form, and got my activation code via email in about a minute.

Nice find. I've been wanting to try this game out for awhile to see if it's worth the money.

Yea that's still how it works. It's unlike a lot of other mmorpg's like WoW and FFXI where you have to pay each month. Just buy the game and you play it for free afterwards :)

nice find btw cursor

this game is not that great. i played for over 400 hours and in the end, i feel empty. i have some of the best items in the game too (crystalline sword, and storm bow with damage mods and whatnot) not a great game.. its like a glorified Diablo 2... not a true MMORPG

I don't like its instancing setup. I like joining existing games or servers. I don't like setting up a group of people to play because it makes me feel pressured to do somthing important with the people.

I tried it and was pleased with it. I went ahead and went to Wal-Mart and picked up a copy of the game for $37. That sounds like one heck of a heal to me.....

I tried it and I really didn't like it. Too much story, not enough mindless slaughtering of monsters :/

Just play the PvP, it's actually pretty fun for a while.

PvP...you cant do good in it unless you do the story line...
btw..for the people that quit...can I have your stuff :) ? I am really bored of my E/M wearing a bow that does 3 damage just because it gives +20 HP and my magic (Flame does -34)

It's ok unless you have dial-up and low memory. Then it's run.....freeze......move one leg......freeze.......quick skip........freeze. If you have broadband and high memory it's good. Alot better then paying DAOC prices anyway.

I take it that the original post is either expired or they changed it to require a valid serial number? I wanted to try guild wars since I had to quit wow because I could not afford the monthly fees.

Anybody know of another offer to try out guildwars?
Thanks

All I can think of is that you could buy a cd key for cheap online (thinking around 20 bucks) and download the client. If you dont like it you can sell your account on ebay or something.

Hmm, they sell the key online through plaync for $49.95. The game can be purchased in stores between $35-40 I guess, have you really seen the key cheaper than that? If so, I'd like to know. :)

Well, I did a quick search on ebay and foudn this http://cgi.ebay.com/Guild-Wars-CD-Key-New-Unused_W0QQitemZ8226594036QQcategoryZ4596QQssPageN ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

There were a few other auctions too, but that was the cheapest

Yeah, I was hoping there was just a reseller somewhere with them cheaper, I've actually been bidding on them and they just always skyrocket at the end...I don't want to spend more than like $25 for an unused account/key, when I can buy the game new boxed at the store for $35-40, thanks though. :)
