Just wondering if/when any speed upgrades might/will happen... Plenty of places have 6 and 8 Mbit DSL and cable, but SBC still only offers 3Mbit. Heck, even mobile phones are going to have 6Mbit downstream speeds pretty soon. Anybody know if SBC is ever planning on upgrading?

They are cheaper than most. You get what you pay for.

I'd hope so.

But SBC also does T1 lines, but only in certain areas. SBC is worth the price you pay for it, like $25 for a 3mbit line is great, even though actual speeds are lower then that.

Yeah, my 3Mbit internet has never actually gotten me speeds of over 2.3Mbit... but it'd be cool to have a couple of dedicated T3 lines :p (would require money for that, though)

Check out this link to give you an idea of where your CO will be. This ultimately will reflect what speeds you actually get. If your more then 11,000 Feet from the CO, you wont have 3Mb, it will be more like 2.4Mb.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have the 3meg service and I get about 2.5-2.6megs. However I get a higher upload than i'm supposed to, around 500KB/s :)
