whats a good substitute for norton personal firewall?

is norton the best one? do i really need one if i have a regular wireless router with nat?

the main function that i'm looking for is an ad blocker, not pop up, but those website ads.

Norton isn't even in the ballpark!!!!!! And yes you do need an antivirus. Take a look HERE Tons of info on virus scans!!

EDIT: Sorry, i thought you were looking for virus scans, :-/ Yes you also need a firewall beyond your router. I would imagine norton's firewalls are as bad as there virus scans. I use McAfee myself, with 2 hardware firewalls.
 
What kind of router are you using? Are you using wep or wpa? Did you disable ssid broadcast? Use the Wireless Mac filter. If you do all that you should be ok.
