I'm sure those of you who get the emails from geeks.com have noticed this as well. Looks like a winner!

Let's see...

A 3" Fan and <35dB, what looks like rubber hoses , a scary looking pump...but it does have a great pricetag.

There is no way I would bolt that thing thing to a 478 CPU though. In fact, I wouldn't bolt that thing to a an old 486 CPU! LOL

Just remember the saying "You get what you pay for" $50 price tag = $1500 worth of computer equipment shot. If the aim is quiet vs good cooling go with a zalman 7700 or the 9500. Don't even bother with that.

After reading the first paragraph again I see way too many "low"s for one cooler. You can't have it all. So something there is misleading. No coolant to add or replace??!? Must be a perfect sealed system with the perfect anticorrosive coolant that will last years!

I payed $60 for my wc (after some hardcore scrounging) and I have a 5º deltaT. My load is 32, although that does'nt really mean anything. Thats some kick a$$ water for (roughly) the same price as that piece of crap. Hopefully none of our fellows consider something like that.

Yeah it is sort of tempting to get one just to monkey with... but of course I don't wanna spend actual MONEY on this heap.

While this particular unit may be a "piece o' crap", in many respects I think it foreshadows the future of mainstream watercooling.

Simple, small, and most important, self-contained, this is exactly the kind of unit that Dell would have to use if it built a line of watercooled PCs.

I don't know... Dell and the other big guys already seem to have a cheap quiet cooling solution in place for their systems. Why would they muck that up by going with something more complicated and expensive such as watercooling? Even simple and relatively cheap units like this have to be WAY more expensive/complicated than air, and don't work any better.

I guess if they wanted to build an "extreme" system that they could brag as being watercooled....

the new alienware aurora alx comes with water cooling bragging rights included.

it's ironic thinking about how buying that computer would sort of be like buying the cooler you're all talking about. You can get much better equipment by buying everything seperately. Still I wouldn't mind winning the bf2 alienware sweepstakes :bday:

I concur. :)

I enjoy checking out alternatives whenever I can, just to see how they really do in real-world use....though I prefer to pay little or nothing, of course. ;)

If (and a BIG "if" it is!) cpu tech. continues towards ever hotter cpus, then eventually systems similar to this will probably become more commonplace with OEMs.
