I'm looking for a software package that will let me, via programming, develop models. I plan on using the package for importing 2-D images and then via reconstruction algorithms, making 3D models from those pictures. Anyone come across software that will let you do this? I want to be able to analyze the 2D images and operate on them with mathematical expressions and then make 3D models.

Matlab's Image processing package will let you import images and represent them as a matrix and is awesome for working with 2D images. However, I have never worked with Matlab for 3D applications. While I'm looking into doing this with Matlab, however if there's a better program to do this with, then I'm all for trying that program out.

Any help or suggestions anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!
