oh please won't somebody help me... I'm using dial-up, it's 56K (more like 31.2), and everytime I try to dowlload certain demos, and stuff I get a "connection has timed out" error, why is that? Is there any tweeks to fix this? I used to have DSL when I lived in Long Beach, but broadband is not being offered where I moved to in Texas, next year will be the soonest, and I wanna try NHL 2002, any suggestions?

I believe its kinda a dual thing. The server stops responding and your connection is slow. Here are a couple options:

1) Try a different server
2) Some places like FilePlanet offer putting it on CD and then charging you for shipping (!#@%*&!#)

Or if you have any friends nearby that have broadband and a burner you could ask them nicely. ;)

Another option is download software such as GoZilla and Download Accelrator. They will reconnect and resume the download for you. Just be careful as most of these programs contain spyware.

The server is timing out because you are so slow. No offense...:)

the whole area is the same, nobody has broadband kinda a drag. My cousin gave me a brand new Motorola PCI 56K v90 modem, and it's way slower than my Lucent 56Flex, kinda strange. What is "spyware"?

Spyware is software that gets installed secretly on your computer and transmits or receives information from a remote host. It doesnt do your system any damage, but it slows your connection down.

Download AdAware 5.5 from lavasoft. Its a freeware program that scans memory, registry and fixed disks for spyware.

I know what you feel like btw. I am in the UK aka the Island of the telecommunication stone age :) No broadband in my area. I might be able to trial cable (512/128) in 6 months time. Thats IF.

I am using a damn fast 56k connection ATM though. I pay a lot for it, believe me.

Got an expensive external V92 Modem, A fiber optic line and an expensive Gaming ISP.
