Warenty Question

I chiped the core of the processor puting on the fan but I did get a retail box and so I have a 3 year warenty. This is for an athlon 1.4ghz but what I wanna know is do you think I would be able to get them to let me exhange it with a 1.5ghz xp? Or are they going to just send me a new processor, im willing to pay a little extra to make up for the price difference to but do you think the guys over at amd will go for it?

Not even sure if they will exchange the CPU. Maybe they will claim you made a misuse. Hope you will get an exchange.

Most warranties do not cover physical damage, and that is what a chipped core is, physical damage. Give it a shot though, you might get lucky.

I just did a similar thing, except I got the OEM version.
At least 1.4 Athlon prices have gone down to make room for the XPs.
