well i havent seen/read about this yet.. but what would happen if i put a Peltier between my hsf (alpha 8045) and my cpu?
would it just fry? details?

The heat pumped with the peltier cannot be dissipated just with passive cooling. You need some sort of active cooling (air or water) to remove that heat. So if you put the peltier over the CPU and on top just a heatsink, the result will be a cooked CPU.

Well, actually, with Intel processors (at least some of the older ones) you could get an 80W TEC and cool it with a hsf...but if you tried that with an AMD you'd certainly cook your chip, and probably the TEC, too.

Maybe a really weak peltier could work but I wouldnt take the chance.

I have to agree that all CPU HSF won't be sufficient,
but I disagree that it can't be done with aircooling.

It's just a matter of getting the right HSF for aircooling :D
