Guys, I was just elected the benchmark captain over at Cryo-Laboratory.com Forums. As one of my first acts, i'm doing a MAJOR test to see what affects what in the score.
Here is my post over there and what I plan to do:
I'm gonna get to this probably start this evening. I'll leave everything at stock and run each test 3 times and average the results.
I'll run 3dmark01,03,05
PCMark 05
I have 2 windows shells, the basic explorer, and LiteStep (just installed it last night)
I am going to see if changing shells gets you a speed increase. Also, I will run without either shell 3 times to see if that makes a difference in the speed.
If it makes any difference (within a margin of error of +-0.5%), then that could be a way to get more out of the system!
Also, after doing the testing, I'm gonna OC my rig to max, unlock that 6800, and check the tests again like that to see how much difference is made at that level.
Then, I will do a fresh install of windows as mine is startin' to get slow and cranky. I will then run the tests again with the fresh install, both at stock and at OC.
This is gonna take major time, and lots of orb reports, and i'm going to put the results in a spreadsheet (i use openoffice, so if ya wanna see it, lemme know and i'll save it in excel format) that calculates the percentages gained/lost depending on the configurations.
