I am the proud owner of an MSI X800XT-PE and I have decided to learn how to mod this card using variable resistors and my soon to exist soldering skills. :santa: A friend will provide alot of the tools (iron, etc.).

This is the guide I am using for the vmods:
http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=3&var1=166&var2=0

I am practicing my soldering with help from these sites and some very nice posts in these forums:
http://www.fixup.net/tips/soldering/
http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=gethowto&howtoID=47

This is where I plan to order the variable resistors:
http://mouser.com/
www.Digi-key.com

This is what I need:

20,000 Ohm variable resistor x 3
500,000 Ohm variable resistor
Wires and fine solder

My question:

From the two websites/vendors mentionned above, what kind of product am I looking for? I understand I need quality variable resistors, and that there are types that I want to stay away from. I have very little knowledge on the various brands, models, features, etc. Any help in choosing the parts would be greatly appreciated.

A quick note on the size of wire and solder (rosin) would be beneficial as well.

I would say whatever resistance the mod calls for, make note of if theres alot of wattage over it, and get a 10 turn minimum, preferrably 25 turn so you can be nice and precise.

I like wires stolen from an old printer cable or round IDE cable, like 26 or 28 guage. solder, i use a roll of old really thin stuff , i dont know its size, i might grab my micrometer from the toolbox at school and give a diameter, but i dunno the mix, its probably standard 60/40. its thin, and i tihnk you can see it in some of the pics in my guide.
