View Full Version : i'm sick and tired of flash banners
is there any way to block those annoying flash animation banners? i don't even care about blocking them as much as changing the default to a static image.

Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) + Flashblock (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=433)
There are ways but some cause problems and block things you need or may block altogther. I like Norton Iternet Security for this purpose because you can block all Flash and then allow it for sites that you need it for. Like I block most everything in USA Today and Wired but need Flash for MotherJones so for me it works. You can also tweak your scripts, java, activeX, animation, cookies and such specific to a site. I like this and the logs and stats. Firewall wise it's not what I use. I also use different browsers for different things so it works well.

Seconded. I personally find this to be a wonderful solution.

Hmm..damn I think you must be right, I'm getting the same issues at work and I use the same setup there but not at home.
Flashblock rules! We use it at work as a precautionary measure.
