no the smells are not coming from the inside. every now and then some weird smell like methane or something gets emmited by my fridge. could it be that something is leaking like coolant or something?

Not sure about that one. Could be a mold problem brought on by a bad condenser...have checked behind and underneath it?

That depend on your fridge. Anything made more than a few years ago will have CFC refrigerant which has no odor. It is in fact so chemically non-reactive that the salesmen from DOW chemical used to drink the stuff in front of customers to prove how safe it is.

If it is a newer model then you will have a hydrocarbon based coolant. However, I am not clear on how you know it to be a methane smell. If you mean that it smells like gas, then no. Cooking fuels have chemicals added to them that stink so that people will know when they have a leak. Your fridge should not have those chemicals. more likely would be that you have some food that fell in back somehow that has been spoiling.

well, its weird. it appears one moment and then disappears the next. it was just at its worse a few minutes ago so i had to air out my entire kitchen. i think ill check behind it after the smell gets a little better

I used to have an old mini fridge that always smelled odd like maybe a slow leaking coolant. it was older than me if that matters, before the regulation on CFCs came about to save ozone layer. That fridge has died since then.

I had a similer problem with my fridge, strange funky oder that only came on now and then. But when it came on :eh?: it was bad. I finally had to pull it out and check where this funk was coming from. It turns out a mouse got all up in there and got too close to the fan, took his head off :p and thats where the smell came from. I had to take the fridge outside and hit it with the pressure washer to get the funk out.

we had a mouse get stuck back there, and only when the coolent fan kicked on would it do it, and when it was on, there was only certian places you could smell it from.

trust me, a roasted mouse just dont smell good at all
