CS is messing up......

Hey guyz,

My CS is cery SLOW these days, well, ever since I got the new 1.3v. You see, my ping (aDSL) used to be around 180 -200, but now it is 400+!!?? I un-installed and reinstalled everything, but the same thing happened. So I checked my badnwidth and everything was fine.

Has anyone else had this problem? I also tried turning off the voice command thing, but it didnt do anything. So, if anyone out there knows any commands that I could use in game, or anything else that might be messing it up, it would be greatly appreciated.

my ping was normal way below 100 i hit 20 often.

and now i really get below 100 so yes the new cs uses alot more band with so that might be the problem

go to www.speedguide.net see if any of there tweaks can help out.:)

Actually, I did go to www.speedguide.net and found a Registry modifier that set all of the optimal settings for my PPPoE.

It did set the settings to there best performance (i checked) but it hasnt done anything for the games ping.

Therefore, it must be something in the game. At least thats what I think.

I checked my:

rate = 9999.0000
cl_rate = 9999.0000
cl_updaterate = 50
cl_cmdrate = 45

in the Console, but those are the only commands I know that amy be affecting my bandwidth. Damn, this really sucks.

Anyone else have something that may help me?

lol, no, im on a p3 733 with a ATI Rage 32 MB vid card.

It is in the numbers, or that new patch....I am fairly sure of it...

That adsl sounds a bit dodgy to me. I have a reduced adsl @ 115kbps and I get pings from 50-100. If yours is full version @ 512kbps you should be getting much better pings than 180-200!!! I had 190-250 with 56k modem!!!

Oh man, your DSL speeds are PATHETIC! Seriously, that's just atrocious!

You need to go to www.dslreports.com and get the speed tweak.

My DSL is a Verizon 768/128 line, and I get consistant 93KBps downloads and 14.4KBps uploads (That would be 930/144).

As for CS being slower, you're right. It is. It's because of the added voice bandwith. As far as i can tell, Valve alotted a certain ammount of bandwith to voice. As an example, lets say they they took 10% bandwith, and devoted it completely to voice. You'd lose 10% bandwith with people talking or not. That's just an example, I don't really know what they did, but it is slower because of the voice communication feature.

You could try lowering you're rate a bit.
I'm on 56k Dial-up and get 150 pings.
I Don't know if it will work or not, but it's certainly worth a try.
My 'rate' is at 9999
and my cl_updaterate is at 20.

Always go 1 under on rate ... Works better .. but dont know why
