Hi everybody, I am new to this forum and website. Before I started to register I read the information about overclocking on the website. however I couldn't find any information about overclocking an Intel Mobile PentiumII. I have a Toshiba notebook.
Is it possible?
The system is a Toshiba Satellite pro 490xcdt. Intel Mobile PentiumII @266Mhz. 66Mhz FSB. Multiplier4.0.
I don't know if this helps but it is from family 6, model 5.
Welcome to the forum
I'm not very familiar with the mobile p2, but i do know that the standard p2 266 was multiplier unlocked and i have sucessfully overclocked them to 300 and 333 just by bumping up the multiplier in old systems that friends had.
You can also do a search on google or deja on mobile p2 overclocking. Whenever overclocking its always helpful to know where your reset cmos jumper is and have a copy of your bios handy just in case.

i dont think that you will be able to do it as laptops are fairly confined high heat spaces....the only way i see you ocing is this thing is by taking it apart...i have a feeling it wouldnt be too mobile anymore......
Your labtop case is too small as mentioned...
Lots of heat are in the labtops :(
Dont think you can oc a labtop...

I just opened my laptop to see where the CPU was. Well i can tell it took me a while to find out where it was. It doesn't look like the chip on the picture. It's just the square thing. Can you tell me how to get there.
I just got the CPU in my hand and I had to press it in the mobo.

i suppose mobiles cant (or couldnt) have slot1 (the picture shows a slot1-pentiumII) just like slot1-mobos that support pentiumII-III...
i think the mobile's mobo mount a different socket.

I don't know how well your mobile pII will overclock but using SoftFSB I'm running a pII333@400 and haven't had a problem yet
It seems like it would go higher but thats the max the mainboard will allow even using 133 for the FSB;)
