View Full Version : How to get the word out...? Ideas...?

Team Members,

As we begin to get our arms around these new version 2.0 programs, we need to look towards the next challenge, which is to get our membership to use the new client and start to get our stats up.

Anyone have ideas on the best way to do this?

Here is my initial idea...

Could we create an active member list from people who have folded for us in, say, the last month or so?

Then take that list and use the membership database here to send a generic e-mail to them to notify them of the change?

We'd need Skip's or another Admin's help to access the database, but that would kick some A if we could make that happen.

I do not think it would be any kind of privacy violation since we can e-mail each other from the boards anyway. We don't even need access to the addresses, just provide the Admins with the list and an e-mail template and maybe a VB program to do it.

What do you guys think?

I agree. We REALLY need that page updated.

If I recall, several people (including you?), volunteered to update that page.

Why are we not doing that?

TT / Sfa ?

Another idea I thought of this morning related to my first was to send out a F@H team newsletter every few months, maybe every 6 months. Nothing big, just an update from the team leaders and maybe some other random stuff. It might be a way to get people re-interested. Or it might be too much. I just thought I'd mention it and get some opinions.

I do think my original idea has promise though. If we split up our 'active' member list between some of us that are here all the time, we could each send an e-mail through the BB software to one of the people on the list telling them about the switch. How long would that really take if we divided up the list. You could just paste the same e-mail message in over and over again.

What does everyone think? Feedback please?

I like the idea of updating the page, but it's a lot of work. With the right help that would be possible.

Maybe a note can be placed on the front page of the main site showing that 2.0 has been released.

We really need to figure this 2.0 thing out and once all of the bugs and fixes are figured out is a FAQ for this beast of a program. We can start working on that right now. We've come a long way in the last two days, but it took a lot of effort.

I agree, we need an FAQ, ASAP (like that?). Once 2.0 is stable enough to install with relative ease, we could then contact our 'casual' members to get them moved. I don't want to see them try 2.0 and get frustrated and leave the team.

Anyone have opinions (no flames) on my ideas of informing our membership?

You read my mind ;), especially after reading some of the other forums and the fallout that occurred in them. We've managed to keep it from occurring here and to keep it as positive as is possible. :)

I talked to Allan via PM, and he says that we need to get the info from Skip, and for the F@H page, he can't change the password, and therefore can't give it to me, but is willing to do any changes we need for us.

Well I think the word is out! What you have to do is convince,
them, me, us, to change to 2.0. Why should I change?
I think that is a tough one. I have 2694 wonderfull WU's under
my belt and am kinda proud of it. Now you want me to start
all over again at zero. I think if you can find an answer to this
question you will have no problem getting me, us and them to
change over.

:) :) :) .................................................. ....Brett.............

To me, that's an easy one. I was approaching 1000 WUs, but now I have about 30. But, our TEAM is near the top and gaining members / ground.

Plus, I think there may be new proteins that you get in 2.0 that you will not see in 1.34, but I'm not 100% on that. I am basing that on comments here that people are seeing new proteins and old ones they have not seen in a long time.

If scoring is a large accomplishment, you will always know what you had, but lets look at getting the TEAM score up there. Soon the 1.34 scores will not matter since everyone will be watching the individual scores and team scores from 2.0.

I'm sure if you asked most people here how many WUs they have, they'd give you their 1.34 score AND their new 2.0 score.

I'm not sure I'm doing a great job of convincing anyone, but I hope you and everyone else will move to 2.0 for the good of the team.

Fold on...:D :p

Brett, I understand how you feel, I had about 11,500 done. I switched to 2.0 and the team right now is the number 2 folding team in the world. We can use your help, we can use everyones help to push this team to number one. If you switch now, you will be starting on level ground with everyone on the team who switched.

As of the last update that would be
FAH 1- 5051 (been there since 2.0 rolled out)
FAH 2- 109 (been moving up ever since) ;)

We now have 55 members using 2.0!!!:D
We passed DSL Reports and we need to catch up to Alliance Francophone. ;) As well the better we do the more likely we are to stay ahead of Athlon OC and DSLR.
2.0 is being pimped by Intel. The link to the FAH client is just a few clicks off of a front and center link from the front page intel.com, which means that as things progress 2.0 will be where it's at and it should be much bigger than it was before. We have a team that is up and running now and we have a chance to get a running start in a new, bigger game for the same project. :)
