there is a program called wine that i think allows you to run a version of windowed windows.

VMware lets you do it, too.
windows SHELL on a linux box?

better ?, is there a way to run a Linux shell on Windows, preferably Mandrake 8 or later
VMware Workstation is really cool, you can run any OS off from either Linux or Windows 2000. But it does cost $$$$$$.

Another option, but this one actually requires you to spend some $$$...
Removable HDD kits and separate HDD's. But that kinda take away from the "cool factor" of being able to say "hehehehe...look! I'm running windows in a window, hehehehe".
But, seriously. If you can afford it, get a two removeable kits and two HDD's. You'll only need to install one of the "female" (lack of a better term) sides of the kit. Just shut down, swap drives, and power up again! Voila! You're running "XXX" OS.
Hmm..with this vmware, it'd be running a complete windows on top of the linux? (ie: could I connect to my isp w/windows and get out with linux/whatever??)
My isp is being weird, and I can't get on with linux :(
if I could use a windows to connect, I'd be quite happy..
anyone have any ideas?
find a linux freindly ISP?

Unfortunately, that can't happen until January
I live in the middle of nowhere (tm) and the only ISP's I can get (without calling long distance) do not support *nix (or newsgroups)

Yes, it runs windows on top of Linux completely. The VM stands for "Virtual Machine", which it exactly what it is. I haven't set it up yet, I'm waiting for Suse 7.3 to come out, then I'm redoing my system. But you can run any OS through it, it even has a bios screen. No partitioning needed.
