2.0 a no go

Console version does not work on my machine (Win2K Sp2). I see the pop-up box when I run it but there is no text, just a blinking cursor. The GUI unit crashes if I try to display it. I think I may be going back to 1.34.

I tried the full version but I can't tell if it's working or not. Everytime I try the F@H display it crashes. I can't see how many wu's it's working on, don't know what it's working on, in short all I can see is the little F@H icon in the taskbar. I can't let this program keep running without being able to tell what it is doing.

I have this problem on my laptop(win2k) and full screen still crashes my main system, but it has a voodoo card and they are saying that they are having problems with voodoo cards. Could be due to the fact that during the beta I would dump my sys info file intheir laps in the hope that they could fix it. I think they recommend updated the vid card drivers because there were some open GL problems. I don't know if this will work or not.

It would be nice to know. I'd like to be able to see it on win2k once in a while to check progress without having to check the log.
They are blaming everything on the video drivers for which there is not update. Nothing else crashes the system though.

graphics card. hehe. then why doesnt the no nonsense console work either.

btw i'll have my 3rd unit uploaded in about 5 hours if i dont have to do it for a third time.

I had some problems with machines with it crashing on full screen. Believe me that little icon is working its heart out in the systray. just look at your logs in your folding@home directory.

What fixed the crashes for me was upgrading to directx 8

The console version has been working great in win2k for me too. Not sure where the problem is with that. Hopefully you can get your problems resolved.

yesterday i tried doing disk cleanup while fah2 was running. you would think that fah2 would go down to zero so the disk cleanup could run. nope. disk cleanup was running at 5% and fah2 was at 95%. it took about 20 times longer than it should have to do disk cleanup.

Im having the same problem as earthdick, just sits there and blinks. It has finished one frame, but it took it about half an hour. I tried the full version, but it wont install, i dl it, and when i run it it tries to install photoshop!!:confused:

I tried to open the log txt file to check the progress. I get "Can not open file, blah, blah, blah. I can't even check on the progress. Updating DirectX did nothing to solve the problems. Both clients are very buggy on my machine. Nothing crashes on my rig except these programs.

and i am glad i waited.....

Well, it won't necessarily be 2.34 that works... it'll be whatever version they finally fix some of these problems in.

It seems some video cards have problems with the client. I am running it on 3 differerent machines with win2k sp2 on it without even a hint of a problem. I have one running the console and 2 running the systray.

I do hope they get what ever the problem is fixed soon. Sounds like within the next week or two most of the problems will be ironed out.

I can run mine. Same thing win2k sp2 but I can't run it with the display. My problem may be specific to my hardware though. I tried directx 8.0 and still have the same problems, but my video card drivers are probably out of date and I can't get an updated driver for my laptop. It's generic(well, not a big name anyway) and the drivers are specific for to the display. It folds fine, just no display.
