Edit: free shipping promo has ended, but $25 + $14 s/h is still a decent price for an AVR-equipped unit.

Otherwise scroll down for more info and a 50% off coupon to http://www.Belkin.com (coupon = 12345)

For those who are curious: 500va on a generic unit isn't a whole lot juice but it's good enough for low end/mid level PC's, most of your home electronics, all of your networking equipment etc etc. The auto-voltage-regulation feature corrects the occasional power spike or brownout. And you're getting all of that for the same price as a power strip :).

The free shipping option is viewable during checkout (not before!). Multiple units still qualify for free shipping.

btw: line-interactive = AVR

Can I connect this to my watercooling A64 in my sig, and the p4 550 also in my sig?

I have no clue how these things work, and if it'll power those PCs up.

depends on what your load is, 500va can handle about 300W load. I would say no

So one 500va for each PC? Would 500va be enough for my OCZ 600w, and another for my fortron 530?

On my dads system the 500VA unit with 1 monitor and a P4 Northwood, 9600Pro, 2 hard drives only lasted 3 minutes. So if you are looking for power dips or spikes then this should work for you. If you are looking for something to use incase of a blackout then this really isnt for you.

I would get one for every PC for the power dips. We get times here when the electic will go out for a half a second 3 or 4 times. These would prevent the computers from rebooting.

No.

Pass on this, off brand, low quality option.

If you really want a UPS, IM me, and I'll help you pick one out.

Thanks!

I'm eyeing this baby right here:

I own a 1000va from their previous generation of UPS' and it's been running great. I got it from TD for $100 after rebate. This guy is 1500va with 8 battery backup outlets whereas mine has 6 and only 4 are battery backedup.

It's only $18 for ground, $21.00 for 3 day, and $26.50 for overnight. That's not too shabby for a UPS.

NP,

hmmf, i almost forgot the good deals that could be had there. That 1500va enterprise edition for $118 AC shipped is a steal. If i didn't already have about 7 or 8 UPS units i'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I use two of these (http://www.nextag.com/buyer/productm.jsp?product=57128679) APC's, one is hooked to the main PC and one to my 21" crt monitor. I buy the APC's on Ebay if they are dead for next to nothing (I tell the seller I do not want the battery and to please ship it without) I then know where to get replacement batteries for about $20 shipped. I save about $140 clams rather than buying two retail ;)

This guy is very reliable, I've ordered many and he ships quick and cheap. If you can finda quality battery replacements cheaper, buy them! My guess is you cant get them cheaper since this guy charges next to nothing to ship a heavy battery (If you buy 2, he charges 4.95 for the 2nd and if only 1, it's $7.50 ;)

I thought I did  NP, I'll do it again

I like these (http://www.nextag.com/buyer/productm.jsp?product=57128679) APC 500 models because you can find them easy on Ebay and most people are to stupid to realize you can replace the batteries once they start beeping.

So you buy a beeping APC 500 with one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-UPS-Battery-for-APC-BP500-BK400-RBC2_W0QQitemZ5243405016QQcategoryZ16184QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on Ebay. (keep in mind the Ebay seller shows which is compatible, or you can email him, he's a nice guy and helpful)

How about this for a deal on batteries, at least on shipping.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Batteries-for-APC-Model-BK500MC-UPS_W0QQitemZ5225989207QQcategoryZ162QQssPageNameZ WD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

No matter how many you buy! You can combine all your purchases from different auctions! Just email us with all your items and auction numbers and we will respond with your total including the shipping.

Its that easy!

You will never pay more than $7.00 shipping! (except for air freight)
Buy as much as you want and only $7 shipping for everything. Would be best if your planning on stocking up on batteries.

What is the story on unused battery life? Is it really possible to store replacement batteries? I heard a few on line stores claiming "FRESH BATTERIES DIRECT FROM MANUFACTURER. NOT FROM A WAREHOUSE!*" And then at the bottom explain how warehouse batteries are terrible and unreliable. What is the deal with that?

This Battery merchant's prices are fairly impressive: http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?c=upsbatteries

$6 ground for one battery, $7 ground for two (!)

Got my Geeks UPS btw, doesn't seem too bad i think, i've definitely seen cheaper looking units. Hold onto the manual since you may have to mess with the jumpers on the back.

Out of curiosity i yanked it apart and found this on the battery:

* First Power Technology FP1290 MH28204 (<--?)
- 12v, 9AH, 20 hour (9AH = 9000mah)

* Constant voltage charge
- Stanby use: 13.60-13.80
- Cycle use: 14.50-14.90
- max initial current 2.7a

Figured i'd post it for whatever its worth, or for those contemplating swapping out for a higher capacity battery.
