How does this board compare with the aa8xe? Will it need modifications to use the xp-120 with? Im thinking about buying one to go with my 640 cpu either that or the aa8xe. Any pros and or cons would be helpful thx.

xp-120 should be fine, seeing it doesn't have the active NB fan the AA8XE has, and even if it did, if you rotate the active NB that the AA8XXE has you can fit the xp120. If you intend on upgrade next year, I would say go with the cheapest board, because all the goodies from intel are coming out next year, and you'll need a new chipset on that board

It has a like a metal heat pipe or rail that looks like it might get in the way can anyone validate?

dicecca112- Whats wrong with these chipsets a years a long ways away lol

The AW8-Max and the vanilla, will propably not support the newer cpuseries coming out next year is what Dicecca112 was trying to say.
So the support for your 640 is still available. ;)
