I purchased the hard drive 6-11-05, they acknowledged receipt of my completed form 6-20-05 and recorded a check for disbursal with the issue date of 7-01-05. I have contacted them four times inquiring of this check. I received one ambiguous responce on 8-08-05, but have yet to receive a valid e-mail reply or the check.

Beware of Seagate product rebate offers. Maxtor, Western Digital, and other comparable products have similar if not better products and rebates dispursed without this frustration. Repeated attempts to obtain this $30 rebate have me resolute never to purchase Seagate products again.

Heck, I just aviod all rebates like the plague. I did do a Netgear rebate once, took 3 months to get the rebate back. I think the whole idea is a crock, it can't seriously take 3 months for them to process the stuff.

I have done several rebates in the past. I think they (the manufacturers/companies) want to make them "painful" enough that most people will just stop sending them in.

Now, I don't stretch the checkbook too thin to buy something with a rebate. It takes FAR to long to get the check. I do the paperwork and file the date that I sent it, but basically try to forget about it at least for a few months until I get the check.

You're best bet is to tell the company you bought it from that you will never buy from them again. There are companies out there that gives you rebates back without a hitch and most companies don't like losing customers. One lost customer often ends up with more losses because of the one customer. Tigerdirect.ca (I'm from Canada) is known to be very quick with rebates. They've lost too many customers in the past because they didn't follow up on rebates.

Hope you get your rebate back.

Spencer, If you send me the info I will call them and get on their @SS. Many times companies will put you through the wringer in order to not honor the rebate, it is one thing that irks me to no end, but I am good at making them pay up. As long as you have a copy of the original purchase order and a copy of the rebate form you sent in I will be sucessful with this situation. Companies like Seagate use third party sources to outsource the rebates and these 3rd parties are specialists at not paying. I am a specialist at calling the Corporate HQ and getting it rectified.

Silversinksam, thanks for the offer. I've been away for a few days and have now received the rebate. I now have a new perception of Seagates' customer service and will look else ware for future product purchases.
