Would it be a good idea to put two different colored cold cathode tubes in a case (one on top, one on bottom) for a kewl color mixing effect? I was thinking about getting one blue and one yellow or one blue and one red. Has anyone else tried something like this before? Did it turn out good?

well it might work okay but will be very bright so not a lot of mix area atleast that is my bet.

go for one CC buy from the scorpion look at Virtual Hideout forums that is where I got mine and only 20bucks for 12incher deal kicked ass but they are very bright so 4incher is plenty imho.

BGMicro has a pretty good deal on them too, I think it was like 8 bucks or something... Buddy of mine got 2 of the UV (Blacklight) cold cathodes, they're not as bright as an 18"X3/4" flourescent though they're very bright for being like 2 millimeters wide. The BG Micro ones don't come with power supplys, though they have those available for order as well, and also don't have the protective acrylic around them, so you have to be careful with them...

Do those Cathodes run on the 12v line?

I got a loan of a car neon light off a friend. (I'll just say now i never saw it running off a car supply before i tried this)
Linked it to 12v supply in case.
It was crap. The light flickered and a match would have produced more light!

Why is this? is the current too low???

Are all neon lights low on light. I pluged it into car that night and it was dark out, i still was not impressed.
1 LED would produce more light. The only light was on the bar itself is this normal. I was expecting more light!

Plz help!"

Yeah, if you buy the power supplys from BGMicro along with the Cold Cathodes... 12V in (4 wire Molex) and then a 2 wire out (one to each end of the tube). Be careful as there's some serious voltage runnin across the back of the board, and you'll wanna insulate it before just setting it inside your case. My friend plugged it in while holding it and got a nice arc across his finger, startled him more than anything, but man did it stink... hehe...
