I'm looking to get a cheap video card. I'm considering the radeon ve dual display edition and a geforce2 mx400. I can get the radeon a little bit cheaper than the mx400

TV out is important to me, I'd like to get something with nice looking tv output.

I didnt know they made LE's with TV out.

I know theres an SDR version with TV, and the regular 32mb DDR might have TV.

the gf2pro and the ti200 are the same thing, and the pro is a lot cheaper.....get the gainward golden sample gf2 pro(when oced it has 4.5 ns ram so it can oc to gf2 ultra and faster speeds without a prob).......but for below 100$ i still recommend the radeon LE

Well I've decided i can go a bit more expensive and found these prices in a local store. These are canadian prices.

ATI RADEON 64 MEGS DDR w/VI/VO.........................$270.00
ATI RADEON 32 MEGS DDR ALL-IN-WONDER...................$270.00
64 MEGS Ge-FORCE 2 GTS DDR TV/......................$250.00

The american prices would be aprox 172/172/159 respectivly
Are these fair prices for the cards? Should I consider something else?

I dont really want to order anything online. I've ordered things online before but the problem is that the shiping to Canada is usually pretty expensive and then there's the tariff. Most places wont even ship to Canada at all. I haven't found any Canadian online stores.

Oh and can somebody explain the differences and rank all the different g forces?

Here are the 2 canadian stores i shop at.

www.ncix.com
www.dealsdirect.com

i recomend ncix first, they are excellent, same day shipping, good selection.
Dealsdirect is good also, usually ships the next day.

one place to stay away from is www.bigfootcomputers.com, very slow shipping, and they dont answer email. Unorganized also, i think its 1 man running the place out of his bathroom or something.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

I've actually tried to order something from bigfoot before and it sucked. It took forever for them to answer emails and somehow they lost my credit card information and couldn't process my order so after two weeks of email corispondance I just told them to eat me.

dude, for 268$ canadian the Radeon7500 is on the ncix website...that is one nice card.....

Cisco Kid

This is one of the if not the cheapest place to buy pc stuff in Vancouver and probably Canada.

www.anitec.ca they have the radeon 7500 for $253 and Staples or Futureshop have the Radeon 64 DDR for $199.99 after a 75 mail in rebate , now that IS DIRT CHEAP. For the cash I would have to say the Radeon 64 DDR VIVO right now is one super sweet deal!!!

That is like $125 US to $130 US that is cheap and this card is very overclockable, have mine doing 220/220 with stock fan/heatsink and I know it will go higher, guy I know online here has his doing 246/246, stock it came at 198/198, and he is using a old 486 heatsink and socket 370 fan plus some homemade ramsinks.

You know for the price of the Radeon 64 DDR vivo, that is my pick for sure, you get TV out video in and out plus the best 2d video, directx8 support, best dvd playback available and equal performance to Geforce 2 GTS Pro cards. Considering where you got your prices from I have just shown you the light LOL..

west is best and don't ya forget that!!!!!!!!

Kuno : Ya i know the feeling, another day has gone by and they wont even answer my email. I really need this hsf fan, but i dont want to order it elsewhere and have two show up in the mail. They have got to be the worst company to deal with ever. Im at the point now where their going to get a threatening email for them to tell me whats going on, and to either ship out the product at their expence or cancel my order. Im also going to report them to the better business bureau, you should do the same.

As for ncix, i highly recomend them, i have done over 3000$ worth of business with them, they always ship right away, never any hassles, everything has worked and the packing job is always nice. I think they pre test their boards and chips also.

(Heres a secret with ncix, if your order is small (cpu, memory, anything else small) just pick ground mail as most of the time they will ship it air mail for the same price since its so small)

I believe that there is a Radeon VE, Dual Output, w/TV out, 64mb DDR, AGP at www.compgeeks.com for, no i'm not joking, $69. I saw some of the other prices.... in the 100's. Is this a crap card or a good deal?

The VE is not a gaming card. If you want the Dual Output and TV, and don't play games very much. Then that's a great deal.

Plus the LE is cheaper. It really depends on if the VE's few features (dual monitors) are worth more money and slower game performance.

But it will be faster than a 1mb card :)

Here's my 0.02

If your going to go with something cheap and good performance get the

Radeon 32mb DDR Le

If your going with something you'll pay more money into for better gaming performance you should go with the

ATI RADEON 7500 64MB DDR

Believe me the last thing you want to do is get the Dual Display VE card from ATI before buying my GF 2 I was going to buy it... And Then I read it really stinks for being a gaming card ...

Really Depends what you use the cards for ...

get the geforce 2 ti200, these are EXCELLENT cards and are easily overclockable and they come with great cooling(especially the gainward) which i would recommend you get. oh yea and funnyperson1 the ti200 and the gf2 pro are not the same card, they might have a few of the same features, but are NOT the same card, the ti200 is much faster and better for gaming and such.......

if you dont believe me listen to the guy from anandtech:

Final Words
To summarize the performance trends we've seen:

The GeForce3 Ti 500 is approximately 10% faster than the GeForce3 at 1024 x 768 x 32; 16% at 1600 x 1200 x 32.
The GeForce3 is approximately 9% faster than the GeForce3 Ti 200 at 1024 x 768 x 32; 14% at 1600 x 1200 x 32.
The GeForce2 Ti 200 is identical in performance to the GeForce2 Pro.
The Radeon 7500 is competitive with the GeForce2 Ti 200, not with the GeForce3 Ti 200.
The Radeon 8500 has more memory bandwidth than the GeForce3 Ti 500.
.....
they have the exact same performance, nothing different, it isnt worth the extra money....

hot damn i just found the radeon 64 meg 7500 ddr with tv out for 199 canadian on the futureshop webpage. This is a 100 dollar discount and it translates to about 127 US dollars. I hope this isn't just a web deal and they have this price at the actual store so i dont have to wait for a delivery.

I think I'll pick one up today if i have time.

Cisco Kid

Damn it, Just as I walk up to the counter at future shop, some guy took the last radeon 7500. They say they'll get more in on friday and still have the same price so I'll wait a few days and if they still dont have it I'll order it from the futureshop webstore.

I did get me an 80 gig drive though. Its a western digial 80 gig 7500 rpm ata100. It was 347 less a 127 dollar rebate so it was advertised as being 219 canadian. Thats about 139 US. I think it was a good deal.

you can get a 60 gig Western Digital drive from futureshop.ca regularly 299.99 ( get them to price match atic.ca price of $220.00 then use the instant $7.50 canadian rebate + the $75 mail in US rebate

= about $102 Canadian for this drive, that is even sweeter than what you got , if ya live in Vancouver

cisco Kid ;)

I am gonna buy the WD drive this way before month end
