i dont know much about slot A , the motherboard it going on is not the greatest its a BCM QS754 .

what kind of overclocking can be done to the proc ? if any
it don't look like there any jumpers on the motherboard , does it have to have the jumpers to change the proc speed , i'm new to overclocking and this system is my old one sitting around collecting dust so i thought i would learn on it , dont care if i fry , just want to learn how overclocking works

thanks

In a few of the spec sheets I looked up for your mobo it says that there is no support for overclocking features. The mobo is a jumperless design so you won't find much on the board itself. I would check the BIOS but it looks as though you might need to look into a mobo upgrade if your plainning on attempting some overclocking.

You can check out the CPU Database (http://overclockers.cssftware.com/cpudb/index.cfm) on the front page to get an idea of what kind of luck people are having w/ the K-6 and oc'in. Good luck.

For a Slot A CPU, you'll have to look for a GFD(Golden Finger Device). These used to be widely available when Slot A's were more widely available. These will allow you to change the multiplier and voltage. To use one, you'll have to pop the plastic coveroff the back of the CPU. There is an article in "Tips and Reviews that will show you how to do it.

I had a 700 slot A that OC'ed to 800 no prob. I had to use the GFD to get it there. I didn't even have to change the voltage at all.

I got one for sale if interested. GFD and CPU or I will split them up.
