Help needed please
trying to creat a network with a crosscable and it doesn't seem to work at all....any tip. manuals online would help
As a minimum well need to know what operating systems you're connecting. Give us a rundown on what the machines are, what the OS is, and what you've tried. We'll see what we can do to help.
nihili
Do the lights on the NICs (network interface card) go on? if not, check for good connection, make sure they're plugged into the PC properly. You might also try looking on the manufacturer's web-site for a "self-test" utility.
If the lights do go on, then refer to the above post. :)

Wassup...about the cable modem that doesn't matter i think. What matters is that the internet is given through from the host(cable goes in here) to the client (internet pc). i have heard different stories about software and hardware thing that help this probleem become reality.
Any help appriciated

The reason I asked about what type of modem is that some software internet sharing does not work well with usb modems.
The easyest thing is to use Internet connection sharing with comes as standard in 98se, but it does not work to well with a usb modem.

The cheapest thing for u to use is internet connection sharing which is built into 98se. install it on the host machine. You do not need to change any settings on the client.

I've found ICS to be one of those things that either works well or not at all. I've not used sysgate or winroute so can't comment on which is best. My advise would be to download a shareware version of each and see which one works the best for you.
Proxy+ and wingate are other alternatives aswell.
