I was just wondering what some good games are that work on these operating systems. Apparently, NFS games don't.

If anyone knows of some games that don't work post those too. Maybe we can try to find fixes for our problems.

Have you tried using compatibility mode? Quake 3 works (Kinda unstable though), but I couldn't get Quake 2 to work though. I'm gonna try Max Payne with it tonight.

I think Oni meant those games did work with win2k, I know quake 3 does and pretty sure Max payne does as well. Also the orig Homeworld does

Max Payne worked perfectly for me.

I've got over 30 games and all of them except NBA Live/Madden 2001 will run on it.

My Quake 2 and 3 run just fine on it as well. So on so forth with HL, UT, DF (all versions), Deus EX, etc...

Hmmm... My quake 2 dosen't work at all. It won't install.
It says something about incorect language. I'll have to try it again and see what exactly the message is.

All of the games in my post above work perfectly for me in Windows2000, no compatability mode or anything like that.

You might wanna use the Windows Update feature to download the plethora of hotfixes from Microsoft. You might also wanna upgrade to ServicePack 2. That fixes a lot of issues.

Game on.

Yeah, I got the service pack last night. I will run the Update feature here in a second. Thanks.

I use bigfix to tell me when new updates are available.

using the installer doesn't work in win2k so you have to manually copy the files
just open up windows explorer, browse your cd-rom and copy all the files from the folder d:\install\data\ to your quake2 folder e.g. c:\quake2\

download the v3.20 update for quake2 (can be found at www.planetquake.com ), install and you are ready to go

cheers
