Hi!
I'm looking for a good place to register a domain name. If you have any experience on doing so, please post it here. How much did you pay? Did the provider serve you well? Did they provide anything extra, like a free redirect? Is there anything I should be looking out for?
Thanks in advance! :) -- Paul

Another vote for godaddy.com
I have 2 domains registered through them. My place of business has over 50 registered through them. I like being able to login as one user and manage all of my domains.
I have one through godaddy.com very easy to setup.
Another vote for godaddy.com I don't use anything else anymore.

This thread reminded me to renew my domain at godaddy so another vote for them, though just watch out they like to annoy you with "ADD CRAP" but its easily advoided.

Looks to be something on the order of $9 / year. Looks very tempting to me. I'm having a hard time understanding if a redirect service is included with that. Suppose that I register
www.some_site.com
and I already have a site at math.uci.edu/~pmacklin. Does the domain registration include a service to forward all net traffic from www.some_site.com to my existing site? (This is particularly good question for those on school servers, where they don't have their own IP address, but rather a /~username type of address.)
Thanks! -- Paul

Yes you can forward your domain name to another address. It works great for those of us who have Dynamic IP's. I forward my domain at godaddy to either my No-ip.com address or my dynu.com address. Both of those are basic DNS redirectors so if my IP changes people people will still reach my sites.
