playback on tv probs

i have my tv connected to my pc via the s-video port on my 6800gt. when i try and play back anything other than dvd's i get a purple screen on my tv where the video should be. ive cured this before, but cant remember what i did. lol. does it on media 10 or winamp

do you have all the right codecs installed?
double check your TV-Out options. I haven't had that issue come up, and I mistakenly mentioned the overlay, don't bother looking in there, I was thinking of something else.

Actually, it could be an overlay options setting. If I remember correctly, I had that same problem not too long ago and changing the graphics card settings fixed it
