CSS Low FPS after Update HELP!!

For some reason after yesterdays update I havent been able to play CS coz Im laggin so bad. Has anybody else ran into this and fixed it? PLZ Im desparate :bang head

Make sure you have everything setup correctly.
When you say you are lagging...do you mean, FPS is low or you are lagging with ping?
Lagging does not go for FPS...No such thing as laggy fps lol...Its just...Slow.
Make sure you got:
fps_max 100

If its ping problems try these:
cl_cmdrate 30 (cl_cmdrate 101 if thats not the problem)
rate 20000 (some people say 25000 is better, but it actually slows you down. 20000 is the best)

Supposedly there is a problem with last gen video cards from nVidia and steam. Something to do with DX9. But you have 6600GT's... so I dont see what the problem is. Try reducing all of your video settings and tell me if your FPS stays the same.

Ok, before the newest patch, Steam wouldn't validate that my FX 5500 PCI card supported DirectX 9.0. Now, on the PNY box and in the manual, PNY claims that the said card I have supports DirectX 9.0.

However, when the new patch came, I was bumped up to all high settings and DirectX 9.0. And for some reason I lagged. I figured it was the HDR settings and the all maxxed out settings that Valve pushed up; so I turned them down. Behold! I still had a FPS decrease in performance. I was told by a friend to Change the DirectX level back to 8.1. So I did, and I still see a choppy performance, rather than before. I've done all the cml_rates, etcs, but I still see lack of performance?

This is upsetting me :(

Well i had an FPS problem too that came out of nowhere but i reinstalled CS:Source and updated it and now it works fine... but ... when i try to close out CS it hangs up and i have to end it but only when i go to leave CS does it do this and i cant figure it out.


edit: NM mines screwed now too it worked first time i played it now my FPS is like 16 and ping is coming up like 350 i've posted a thread here too with questions

Sorry its not lagg my ping is low Ive alway had my stting on high for the most part with x2AA, Ive trie changing the DX level but no good results, even tried every stting on the lowest... and nada. Also those commands where do I type them ??

yes it does. the new update implemented an hdr option which doesnt work for cs, but still gives it a performance hit when its on.

well Its working 4 me now like everybody i gotta wait be4 i play, but the only odd thing is that I cant use dx9, if i do the players look glassy and they reflect the world, so im forced to use dx8, has anybody ran into this problem? ahh alson on windows my Task Manager is all messed up for some reason...
