applying for a credit card just to get a deal is not a deal in my eyes. my credit report is something i intend to never put into jeopardy. if i am in the market for a credit card (which i do not see the need for anytime soon), and all other things are equal, i may go for the one with the perks, but i won't get one because of the perks.

Well, this one is 8% APR, which is pretty good, and I might start using this to make my Newegg purchases.........which I easily spend $4-5k year on......with 1% cash back........that equates to a new top-of-the-line video card for me every year.

yeah, so the card appealed to you on other (very significant) levels. that i completely understand, but suggesting it as an alternative to a good deal on the shuffle is comparing apples to oranges.

Actually it wouldnt. You are thinking 10%, not 1%. 4k-5k would only give you $40-50.
