I really hoped that someone had this problem before and I would be able to find a solution, but the search function doesn't seem to be working. :bang head I am getting occasional restarts, with XP Home SP2. Everytime I send the error report to Microsoft, all that it tells me is that it is a faulty device driver. :argue: Does anyone here know how I might be able to find out which driver it is? Everything that is installed in this computer has been there since day 1, except for the HSF. This has only started to happen recently, other than when my PSU crashed. That was several months ago, and was replaced with no other damage. It is just getting to be aggravating when I am in the middle of something, and the computer just restarts out of nowhere, with no warning. If anyone has any ideas, I am willing to try anything to get this to stop. It has just started within the last couple of days. Also I don't know if this would be of anyhelp, but here is what I have found in Event Viewer:

Run Prime95. It should confirm, if there's any processor malfunction. Is the processor OC'ed? If it is and was stable before, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, the processor likely is degrading. May also be the early stage sign of bad caps. If there's bad caps, the problem will gradually get worse until it's unusably stable and then fail to POST.

Sadly enough the mobo will not let me overclock the CPU. Also the caps are still in good condition, and I think it is a driver problem. It runs very good until what ever it is causing this problem forces the computer to restart. I dont know how to read memory dumps yet, but would very much like to learn. Maybe it could help me to better understand this strange problem. Anyone have any other ideas??

I have the EXACT same problem just looked at Event viewer to confirm

BUT mines has a very wierd twist ..

It goes like this 1. The computer is started after a long period of shutdown 2. the computer restarts witin 10 mins of the first boot, then boots again 3. EVERYTHING RUNS FINE !?!??!

im soooo confused, my overclock is very stable i just dont understand why on earth its causing me soo many problems ?!?!

After the second reboot i can game even game on my pc like crazy with NO problems ..

I have windows home too .. hmm ...

What should i do ??

You probably did this, but check device manager for any conflicting or unsupported drivers. Also try updating all major drivers (video card, mobo etc).
Have you tried a reformat + reinstall? Doing that mysteriously fixes many apparent problems.

there is the possibilty that this is a hardware problem, not the OS. I noticed you said you replaced the PSU. Did you get a good quality PSU or a generic? Also, your RAM or heat could be causing the trouble.

Another thing to try is booting with Safe Mode into "Boot Logging". This can give you an idea if anything during bootup is causing you to hang up.

Although there isn't anything in the Knowledge Base that matches that error code, I would reccomend the standard STOP error troubleshooting routine--

1) Safe mode?
2) System file integrity? (sfc /scannow)
3) Drivers?
4) Reformat.

...and if, after all that, the problem still persists, you most likely have a hardware problem.

Actually i looked more into it before the usual reformat and it turns out my ram isnt stable ! .. ergh .. o well atleast i wont have to reformat anything
