View Full Version : FSB and PSU ???

I have a Duron 650 Mhz. For some reason I'm unable to get it higher than FSB 113 Mhz (at Cas 3) and 110 Mhz at Cas 2. Memory clock is at 133 Mhz. I tried *almost* everything, stepping should be ok, but I cannot get it any higher.
Now I was wondering: could it be my PSU? I know it's way to light to do some serious overclocking by multiplier/Vcore, but will it also affect FSB overclocking?

What motherboard are you using and what speed/make memory are you using ?

Its your ram. You think you are running at 133Mhz CAS2/3. You are infact not.

It sounds like you are talking about HST+PCICLK. Basically this feature adds the main cpu fsb to the pci fsb. What this means is that your ram is running faster than 133 and is likely to fail. I would recommend upgrading to some cheap crucial 133 cl2 ram.

Here is what I believe you to be running your ram at (113FSB)

113FSB + ((1/3*113) = 37.666) = 150.666 FSB!!!!!!!!

If you are running your memory at 150FSB, then you better step you multiplier down to get the cpu speed any higher. Your going to have trouble getting much higher than 150Mhz mem clock even with Crucial PC133 CL2. If you do want to get much further than that, then go buy some expensive Mushkin REV3 Ram. That stuff hits well into the 160Mhz.

UnseenMenace, I'm using a MSI K7T Turbo mobo and generic (yes..i know) 133 SDRAM.

Pitspawn, Thanks, but I don't know if I get it ;)
If I'm correct it would be better to switch in the bios to 100Mhz ram clock and set the Mobo jumper to 133FSB ??
Also, why is my fuzzy logic reading an effective Ram clock of 133 if in thruth it is much higher?
