No its called the word viewer and its free from microsoft. You can view any word file but you can't edit them. They have a viewer for office too.

Or Openoffice.org 2.0 as the others said.

It's free, it comes with all the tools the Microsoft Office comes with, it is compatible with just about every known document format, you can actually edit things and it not made by Microsoft.

Props to Microsoft though for making a "word viewer".

I found the Windows version of OpenOffice to be clunky and slow. Just my experience. I like the Linux version a lot, however.

As a semi-off-thread aside...The main problem with the GNU stuff is that they don't yet have a substantial hold on the desktop OEM market. The whole "install another OS + app suite" thing (for Linux distros) is a major deterrent.

Manufacturers like Fry's are slowly starting to include Linux instead of XP, OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office, but the Linux marketshare in re. desktop OEMs is extremely small.

Word Viewer?

Microsoft distributes free viewers for Word, Access, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint and Outlook. You can read, but not edit the files....
