Does anyone know if you can take the top off of a Socket A TDX block and put on a top for a Socket 939 and have it fit right. It appears that you can just from looking at the pictures but I am not sure.

Yes you can. I did that on my old setup. It's very cost effective.

Great! I just wanted to make sure that I didn't waste money on a top I don't need. Thanks Fighter.

Glad I could help you.
Be careful when you tighten the bolts down to secure the Top. I stripped 1 pretty easily with just a small amount of torque. You should probably change the accelerator and clean the channels, etc....since its off too.

I got a new O-ring and the nozzel kit so I will probably change the nozzels while it is off. Anyone know which one is the best? My loop is gonna be res, MCP600, Bonneville HC, TDX.

The general purpose nozzle that the TDX comes with works fine. I've read that #4 isn't bad. Take a gander at this:

You are correct the #4 is the best accelerator for TDX Blocks.
A good reason to change them is the black rubber seals wear out depending on how happy you got with the coolant, usage, etc..
I had a piece break off into the loop and it caused me headaches for sometime. Ended up draining the whole thing and finding a piece the size of a small tooth FLOATING in my LOOP! Another Piece also lodged between the Accelerator and the Channels causing my overclock to be severely impeded. Just a heads up.
so far i've heard that #5 is the best as long as your setup doesn't have any junk in it that will clog the holes, and that its best for high-pressure pumps (such as the MCP600)
also, did you happen to get the brass top or the lucite top? 'cause clear plastic + water cooling = recipe for disaster (happens rarely, but its still happened - tops crack, leak, kill things, etc.)

I had read the same thing about the #5 nozzel, but I also read that someone had something break off in their system and get stuck in the nozzel! I think that is the one that I am going to use though and I am just going to keep a monitor on my temps at all times and have the computer set to shutdown if it reaches a high temp. I got the lucite top because it was cheaper and looks cooler so I am just going to have to be really careful when changing the nozzels and putting on the top. Thanks for the advise.

I took the top off of my old top and it is all black inside, I assume from the tarnished copper. I can't scrub it off so is it safe to use vineger or something?
yeah - soak it in vinegar for a couple hours and then wash it off with REALLY hot water (that way whatever you can't dry off will basically evaporate by itself because of the heated surface)

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I didn't damage any coatings or anything on the block. Should I also run some vinegar through my heatercore ('77 Pontiac Bonneville) just to make sure it is clean?
sure - just make sure you flush it out real well before putting it back in your loop
