Ok, my friend's computer keeps on BSODing and we are trying to figure out why. I got a minidump of it and ran it threw dumpchk and pstat. BUT, I have no idea what to look for. We all suspected video card problems but now with the dumpchk, it looks like the sound drivers are causing it, but really, I have no idea...

Anyways, heres the info...

Finished dump check

If you need the pstat or the actual dump file, tell me. :)

Any help would be sweet :-D Thanks...

Wouldn't hurt to have the specs of your friend's machine on hand, just for sake of maybe one of us _is_ a Microsoft professional.

I'm not, but...

Ask yourself/your friend the following:
* Have I installed any new devices recently? Were they on the HCL?
* Have I updated any device drivers since the last time I rebooted?
* Could I have kicked the machine with my foot and possibly unseated some card from its socket?
* Has the machine's hard drive been making funny noises lately?
* Did I install any new service packs, hotfixes, or other applications in the last few days?
* Did I make any changes to the configuration of the operating system or my BIOS settings recently?

What OS?

I'm no MS pro either, but the following snippit does make a bit of sense
BugCheckCode 1000008e
BugCheckParameter1 c0000005
BugCheckParameter2 8054a7c3
BugCheckParameter3 b952b94c
BugCheckParameter4 00000000

This sounds like a 0x0000008e error, which MS has info on here. I immagine that he's already running the latest service pack (as the reccomended fix is) though, so here are some other possible things you might want to check out. Finally, Blizzard mentions here some causes for the error, notibly video card drivers (as you suspected). They suggest completely removing and then reinstalling the drivers (I'd also run Driver Cleaner to get rid of anything that remains after uninstalling).

Hopefully something in those links help...
