I'm working on an X2 4400 setup I'm building, listed in the AMD forum.
I wanted to ask those in the know specifically about memory.
Going for 2GB kits in the $300 range, I found Crucial Ballistix 3200 at something like 2.5-4-4-8, G.Skill Extreme Series PC4000 2gb kit 3-4-4-8 model number F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ, the OCZ Platinum series listed at 2-3-2-5.
Awroo?
I have used the OCZ and they have amazing timings for one gig sticks, but they are not great overclockers. The Crucial ballistix have the great overclocking rep. I am unfamiliar with the GSkill's. If you want to run a divider and tight timings go with theOCZ. If you want ram you can OC go with the Ballistix. Good luck.

My Balistix does 250MHz 2.5-2-2-6 or 270MHz 3-4-4-8. With a little more voltage I can do 3-3-3-8 @ 270MHz. I'm not sure of what my max speed for the ram at 3-4-4-8 is since I didn't test it at 1:1 with a 270-300MHz HTT as I'm somewhat limited to what my dividers will let me do & I need a higher HTT than 300MHz. I'm not sure how 1GB sticks perform but if they're the same ICs (which i think they are) I can't imaging them being too different ;).

Crucial Ballistix : most of them hit around 300 mhz oc with 3-3-3-8 timings ( micron IC )
Gskill GZ : Hits around 270 ~ 280 mhz with 3-4-4-8 timings ( Samsung UCCC )
OCZ PC4000 : Hits 270 with 3-4-4-8 ( Samsung UCCC )
Ocz however just came out with a new kind of 2 gb kit called PC4000 Platinum EB edition that does PC4000 at 3-3-2-5 priced around ballistix but for high FSB 1:1 action nothing has beaten ballistix yet.
It all depends on what kind of speeds are you expecting from your OC .

I am using the same sticks on an epox 9NPA+ultra. Got my x2 up to 300 fsb but for some reason the ram freq is only 245. I am still figuring out how to reconcile fsb and the ram divider. Can you tell me what settings you set your ballistix to to get the tight timings at 250 mhz? (you know, skew, drive strength, etc.) What mobo are u on?

If you plan on OCing, Ballistix, if not any El cheapo kit is fine (Patriot, PQI, etc).

Im running @ 230 fsb with a 9/10 with timings @ 2.2.2.6 @2.8 voltage
this gives me a much higher AuqaMark3 score of 86,311 compared to
loose timings
running @ 230 fsb with a 5/6 divider 2.5.3.3.8 @2.8V = AquaMark3 82,425
which i can achive running fsb 210 with a 1/01 divider @ 2.2.2.6 @2.8V = AquaMark3 82,527, i dont excpect big CPU gains with my 4000+ from my research 2.7 to 2.880 would be the best i could do!
trying hard to hit 2.760 stable @ 2.7 @ the mo!
i hope this helps you, people try and get high FSB because the CPU will go much higher than my CPU, that why the 1st thing you need to find out is the limit of your CPU!
