View Full Version : The ZEN CPU RAIDIATOR
This thing looks awesome. I wonder someone would like to do a review of such a nice heat sink. This looks like it could change the way heat sinks work.

there is a link on that page for a review

It certainly looks very cool... er... no pun intended there. :)
I'm wondering about actual performance. The one review linked to from the order page sounded more like an advertisement than an impartial review.
The temp diagram showed somewhere around 40/30 for load/idle on an AMD 1.4. I'm an Intel user, so can someone tell me how those temps look from the AMD side?
And this thing doesn't look like it'd be very hard to self build - if you had access to refrigerant and nickel-plated copper, that is. :)

It would definitely be something to look at.... It's more expensive than my Swiftech though and I get about the same cooling effect

For an AMD cooler, those are good temps.
That's a real steep price, though. My whole bong cooling system will end up costing about $50 more and I expect FAR lower temps than 30°C-40°C. If I were to get one, I'd have to fing clear English instructions first, but the thing does look really cool (old pun, not worthy of mention).
D'oh! I mentioned it!
It's your money.
Also, how loud is the thing?

The temps didn't seem that great, and if I recall correctly, it had 2 good sized fans on it. What's the point? There are some nice HSFs out there (thinking of Swiftec) that will do a similar job with only one fan.
Now, if this thing were totally silent, that would be different...

I don't know what Plycon is thinking on this one.....That heatsing shouldn't be $100. It performed decent for something of an untraditional design. But it didn't cost that much. It really sounds fishy with Plycon selling it for $100 and no refunds or returns on it.
Several reviews are available at http://www.tsheatronics.co.jp/zen/htmls/link.html
It sure gets the award for novelty.

I posted a link to a review of this a few weeks ago, I'll see if I can find the thread... That price seems about right, Price from the manufacturer is almost $85US, and that's before shipping from Japan, or was then... I'm going to wait until more people jump on the review wagon as I still haven't seen a reveiw from and well known sites, tho maybe there's a link to one at the manufacturers website nihili linked.
It's an interesting idea anyway... It hasn't worked in the past, if it works here, then cool...
Peace

Hmm... from that links page that nihili posted a link to, the Kendon looks like a better solution, at least in the bigger = better category... Uses an 80mm Sanyo Denki rather than the two 60mms. hmmmm...

The problem with heatsinks including this one, as processors get hotter and the faster they go the hotter they'll be, heatsinks lose their ability to keep up. I am presently getting ready to switch over to water for this very reason. At least my water cool will be able to survive 3 years or so. But I have personally bought 4-5 different heatsinks in the last 3 years all about $25-30 a pop. That alone will be about the cost of my entire water cool setup that will offer more than enough cooling power for awhile. And this heatsink will be no different than all the rest.

It looks really cool, but the review seems way to partial. I agree that water cooling is a better investment (an investment in computers, there's bright idea) for just the reason classy stated.
