I have a blacker and decker dremel knockoff. I have used it a bunch of times before cutting sheet metal, and I never had any huge problems. The disks would get worn down very fast (I used fiberglass reniforced disks), but never really break. Now I am cutting some metal and two disks broke right away. Is it possible that they got brittle over time? Can anybody give me some cutting tips?

Well first thing is to cut above the groove and not straight trough it, I don't have any pictures so I cannot really show you what I mean.
I was cutting my steel case and I started off by cutting into the sheet itself and I was loosing disks every 5cm or so and after that I started just skimming trough it without applying any pressure and while it took more time it only took 1 full disk to cut trough the whole case.

Belongs in Alternative Modding. The guys here should be able to help you out with this. Don't cut off any fingers.

don't put the wheel through the sheet you are cutting right away, do several passes just skimming the metal and you should be fine

Thanks mdcomp, sorry for the bad post.
So I should never push it against the metal in the direction I am cutting? Just score it a bunch of times?

don't cut all the way through on the first pass, apply light pressure and move the dremel about 1 inch every 2 seconds, do several passes like this and you will use very few wheels, oh and when you go through the metal after several passes make sure the wheel barley goes makes it to the other side of the sheet, this also eats up wheels
