hail!

i got a maxtor pata133 80gb hdd with the os (winXp pro sp2) - other specs in sig

recently installed sata150 200gb + pioneer 110d dvdrw all on a generic "400w"(....but the sticker says something like 300w.....)

i have recently installed bearshare.... :bang head

and my pata does seem to screw up a lot....occasionally it failed to be detected in POST.

is it possible to back up or ghost my pata onto the sata?

It could be your PSU. On start up, things draw a lot of power (especially things like HDDs spinning up all at once), and if either your mobo or the HDD isn't getting enough power right away, it could be failing to detect it. You should be able back things up or get a ghost image of the drive (I've used Norton Ghost on SATA drives before).
