Roelof & I - How to get/use an optimized client?

Many "old timers" here will remember Roelof and SETI spy, of course, we lost Roelof to liver disease last fall. It seems that my failure to be around here much is a result of my own malady (which is also liver disease). While I am not writing from a hospital bed (yet) my situation is somewhat grim. As you might guess, much of my time has been spent with my babies, as well as trying to come to terms with the psychological part of being ill. I have missed my daily trips into this forum...

I do apologize for dropping in and asking a question, but am wondering about the optimized client I have heard of. Does one exist? IS it worth the time to set up? Is it OK to use? And how does one do the latter?

As DK said you have been missed i use the optimised clients on all five of my rigs times range between 1hr to 1hr 20mins my rac rose from 1700 to 2100 it is well worth the effort.

I have to use 4.19 on my system at work (because I do not have admin privledges)... will it work with that?

Hey Kris, you been missed here. It pains me to hear that you are suffering from such a bad disease. I really hope that you are getting good medical aid so that we can enjoy your company for quite sometime. Also both babies in your household will miss you greatly as many of us surely will do it.

As for the optimized client, you only need to install the current client and download from the link posted above the new programs. Replace boinc with the optimized client and browse to the seti folder to replace the client. Just remember to drop the xml file found in the zipped file, so that the optimized client is kept when a new version of the client is around.

About optimized client - it worked without problems on 2 of my rigs that had 4.19 Boinc for quite some time.
