need help on P5WD2 PREMIUM

Hi ,friends

I have four CD writers plus one SATA HDD, i want to change my mobo ,cpu and mem form p4p800 to p5dw2 premium, i read the manual to see how can i attach these into the new mobo, but unfortunateky i found out that there is only one blue ide connector for the south bridge.

The ITE chipset has 2 red connectors but the manual says it does not support ATAPI devices ? I dont know what that means, but i guess it has no support for my cd writer devices,

if i'm correct what shall i do?

You are correct. You will only be able to install 2 cd drives on the P5WD2. I'm not aware of any way around it other then getting a couple of sata dvd drives.

this sounded silly to me so i just switched my dvd-rw to the red port and am burning a cd right now. myth busted!

I stand corrected. Crimedog what dvd drive are you using?

But will you tell me how to know my CD-R/W 's UDMA,

According to the mobo i have used i use 80 pin UDMA cable and could set DMA mode and PIO mode to 4
does it sound good or not ?

Hmm interesting I have a TDK velo cd 52x cd burner on one of the red connectors. Burns fast enough.

I think it is the fact that you need to pass drivers to Windows to let it utilize the ITE at all.
