Anyone ever try running Unreal Tourney in OpenGL. I find that i get much better fps, like 20 more (enough to run in 1280x1024 with a geforce 256), in opengl than i do in D3D and i figured i should pass it along.

how do you enable OPENGL? My PC should support that, is it "open" when i'm not using "software" in the options?

When your on the driver select page, click the circle that says other devices, (or something like that) at the bottom the the screen.

Does OpGL use more proc cuz sometimes i crash if im running something in the background also I have had more disconects than ever when running this? also buffer flipping? what choice? what about antiastropic filtering? and all the other settings? anyone have any insight? I do like the looks of OpenGL with gaming. do any drivers work better or worse with this feature? sorry bout all the questions. J

click tools and then click timedemo statistics

when the board is over open the console with the tilde key and it tells you there

i've never been able to use opengl for tourney. tried a gf2 pro, a gf2mx200, a gf2mx400, a gf pro and a kyro II, with a veritable cocktail of drivers and ut patches, and it's never worked.

one word: issues.

The CPU shouldnt make a difference anyway. The reason i first tried opengl was the when i first insalled Win2000 D3D wouldnt work, i does now though. Go figure

i'm gonna give it another bash when i get home. i just downloaded the latest kyro II drivers and the latest UT patch. maybe i'll get results this time.. watch this space.

well tourney works with opengl now, but i get chronic framerates. 40fps slower than in direct3d!! needless to say i'm sticking with d3d! it's odd though, cos cs runs better in opengl than it does in d3d... i suppose it depends on the driver support in the game.

did you add the command lines on the website? they have about 15 lines of stuff to ad to unreal.ini (i think thats the filename)

and did you get the newest open gl driver?

Hey Proze, the same thing happened to a friend of mine, strange thing is he has the exact same video card as me, only real difference is that his CPU is slower.

nope.. didn't add anything.. would that be the unreal official website? by opengl driver do you mean for ut or my card? i have the latest one for my card, yep.

wrymmaster, wierd... but i don't think my cpu is the prob: tbird 1.2ghz at 1.406ghz with a 156mhz fsb on a ddr board. :D what hiamperage suggested could well be the problem.
