Every hot deals forum out there is inundated with warnings against TigerDirect deals, especially with rebates!

When I clicked on this section (before seeing this post) I was thinking, man we should have a sticky warning people against TigerDirect.

Stay away from TigerDirect or you'll find out the hard way why you should have, like the folks who filed a large number of complaints with the Better Business Bureau did:

http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org/nis/newsearch2.asp?ID=1&strBCode=06330000&ComID=0633000027000500

(Their customer service is in Florida so BBB files on them are there.)

"...Specifically our files show a pattern of complaints alleging dissatisfaction with product quality, failure to deliver promised goods, service issues, misrepresentation in advertising and marketing practices and the failure to address and overcome the basic cause of complaints brought to their attention by the Better Business Bureau.

Complaints allege customers are led to believe they are buying new, Brand Name computer systems, parts and other products with either a 90-day, or 1 year warranty. Complainants allege they are receiving generic, defective and refurbished items and only a 30-day warranty with the option to purchase the 1-year warranty. Customers who purchase the warranty also experience difficulty in getting return phone calls to get the problems fixed or replaced. Customer are told they may return the items for replacement, but they will need to pay again for the replacement and will credited back when the item is returned and received by the company.

Some of the complaints have issues with the advertised rebate, both the catalog and web site have numerous offers for items with a mail-in rebate. Upon receiving the products the rebate application is not included in the package. Customers are told the rebate application is on the website and customers are required to comply with the program and submit paperwork that they never received. Many are denied because the product they have purchased does not have the advertised rebate, the rebate has expired, and some rebates are only good if the item is purchased with a computer. Many customers feel they have been victims of bait and switch, and are unable to return the products because the package has been open..."

EDIT: At Dell:

$378 - $35 opff code: VZLQC0BBZ7KLW7 - $30MIR = $314

I've bought from TigerDirect only once, the purchase being a rebate-oriented one for a video card. The rebate came in quicker than most I've sent in for in other deals with other sites/companies. Apparently I lucked out...

Ordered once from Tigerdirect, three items with MIR. Mobo/Ram/Vid Card

Ram came back probably fastest MIR ever had. Mobo took forever, finally through e-mails back and forth several times, and a few phone calls got that one. Never got the video card one back though, no matter what I tried.

Just my one experience. I stress one because I haven't bought from them since.

Monque, you are probably lucky. Tigerdirect is notorious for not giving out all the rebates. They often do things like what happened to gorks....offer multiple rebates and only give a few back. This was the people at first are happy and then often forget or justify thier purchase anyway.

LOL... I saw Tigerdirect in the topic b4 AR and I said to myself... "AR I bet," and then I saw it and laughed. :)

Still not a bad bargain without the rebate... it may be worth the chance.

Seagate rebates are #1!

I have bought many items from tigerdirect and have never had any problems. The rebates always arrive in full and I always get what I order. I don't know why everyone has such a beef with them.

First multiple warnings are posted from people with personal bad experiences.

Then someone comes along & says "well, I've never had any probs."

Then a naive lurker says to himself "oh look, he's never had any problems," and places an order IGNORING thousands of warning posts on virtually every hot deals forum on the internet, ignoring the official Better Business Bureau negative report on them and learns the hard way not to buy from them.

For those of you that have been lucky, all your experience proves is that not 100% of TD orders are messed up.

JUST A LARGE OF PERCENTAGE OF THEM is.

With those odds, it is not a good idea to gamble, sooner or later, they'll get you...

lol, that's what I'm sayin. When I made my one and only purchase a few months back, I hadn't yet found out about the company's zany rebate history. I definitely lucked out and won't be wading into the rebate waters again with TD anytime soon.
