I've a 716SA dvd burner from plextor. I also have a TDK 880N in my old dell.

burning dvd's on the 716sa is much faster than the TDK, but analyzing and encoding the DVD with dvd shrink is MUCH slower.

The 716SA is in the computer in my sig, the TDK is in an old dell, of which I do not remember the specs, but it is NOWHERE NEAR as powerful as the comp in my sig.

The 716SA analyzes the dvd at 1,500Kb/s, while the TDK goes at 2,000Kb/s. The 716SA encodes at a near constant 2,700Kb/s while the TDK goes at 3,500Kb/s and I've seen it jump up to 4,000Kb/s.

What's the problem here? For the crazy amount of money I payed for this thing you'd think it would be much faster than a year old burner in a 3 or 4 year old comp.

It's been a while since I've used dvd decrypter, so I loaded it up. I created an iso from the disc I already burnt in 6 minutes and 44 secs. It read at around 14,000kb/s. I'll doing the same from the original disc tomorrow. I have to be at work in a few hours :(
