Maybe it just wasn't seated good? I assume you tried it more than once pulling it out and then putting it back in?
Have you tried clearing CMOS and then installing it? Is there some BIOS setting that may be causing issues?

Did you manually remove the Ati drivers, then boot into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner Pro, then removed the 9800?

That may not be it. It sounds more like a hardware issue since it's not fully booting, but it's possible.

Also, it could be a bad card. Be sure to look into the port to be sure there is no foreign matter in there, and make sure the traces are clean. Also, make sure you have plugged up the 12v molex into the card.

^^^I agree. Im thinking it might be a driver issue. Do you have another computer you could try the new card out in to make sure its not the card?

I formatted the hard drive as i always do when swapping out a video card or motherboard.... not a driver problem
I switched back and forth between the radeon 9800 and the 6800 half a dozen times.... not a seating problem

I just dont know, i called up the MB manufacturer to see if it was a known issue but nada.

Since starting the post i have tried the 6800 in 2 other ocmputers and it works fine, i am at a loss.

Hmmmm.....maybe drop the vid card manufacturer a line and see if they have compatability issues with MB. I dont really know its just a shot in the dark. Best of luck to you though.

Have you tried reseting your BIOS yet? or maybe check to see if there is a newer bios to install? could be a issue with the bios since your not getting past the post screen or it could be your power supply, have you tried changing power supplies from the two systems?

Tried switching out the PSU...nada
One of the first things i tried was updating the bios to the newest one.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. Just dont know what the heck to do next.

Just for the heck of it i installed 5 other video cards and they worked fine...

ti4200
radeon 8500
fx5500
mx 440

aswell as my 9800pro ofcourse.

Yeah, that's probably your next step :(

Definitely J23 that MB though. Give 'er a good reset, a good solid 30 seconds with no CMOS battery. That was how I got my first GeForce to work when it gave me hell on a formatted system that had previously been mounted a Voodoo 5 5500

30 seconds HA -

I have to leave mine out a good 5 minutes before the new card would take.

I would take your mobo battery out for a good 5 minutes dude. Thats what made mine work and I went through all this same crapola as you did....
