this is stupid question, but would you advise against mixing PC2100 and PC2400? just wondering if anybody had done the same and ran into some problems before I go and start doing it...

Well, its like mixing PC133 with PC100. They will still work, but only at 100mhz not at 133mhz. If you mix them, then you will lose the advantage of the PC2400 stick. If you do not overclock, then it will make no difference.

This holds true for DDR as well as SDram.
