I just built my new computer and I am try to install the OS, it boots off disk does some common stuff, then when it comes to the part where it says "Setup is Loading Files (Windows Executive)" It just freezes, well doesn't freeze but sits there. Now my disk isn't one of those that you exactly buy new but it has worked before and the OS I am on now was gotten from that disk. Any ideas?
EDIT: It's WINDOWS XP PRO

How long did you let it wait, try letting it sit for about 15 minutes, it might just be taking long. Also, check the CD to make sure there are now scratches on it.

You think I should let it set for 5 minutes? I let it set for about 3-4 minutes HEHE, I will try that right now though, but I am not sure it would do much because the disc stops spinning.

No, no overlock. Sometimes When I go to load the OS on the screen just goes black, not standby but just black. Sometimes also when I try to load the OS I can't even make it to the point where it says Setup is Loading Files (Windows Executive), becaue down in that grey toolbar there is no letters. I have no idea. I don't know what I should do. I am going to try my friends disk. If that doesn't work, buy new hdd, then buy new optical drive but I really don't think that's the problem. I have no idea what the problem is I am completly lost.

Could be disk scratch, I had same issue once where it would just freeze on me. Though most of the time you get an error. It kind of sounds like it is having trouble with some of the hardware. Make sure all wires are in nicely, and that bios are set up correctly. Also you don't have anything special like raid, sata, sli, do you?

SATA hard drive. I made sure RAID was disabled. I loaded optimized defaults.
I hope that my buddys disk will work. If not, I will be buying a hard drive and optical drive. I think that it might be having trouble with the disk or hard drive, but also...theres been times where I will try to go into the BIOS and the screen just goes black, not to standby but just black...I am very confused and ****ed off.
