Hi.

I'm moving to watercooling, and I just bought a heater core from my local automotive store. Unfortunately, it is way too big. The heater core at Danger Den looks like the perfect fit, but I'd rather not buy it from there and spend the money on shipping. Does anyone know the car model that Danger Den's heater core is made for? If not, what is a car model that has a small core? I need something in the 8"x6" range or smaller.

Thanks.
Rick

Just go back to the auto store and ask them to find you one in that size, I know we do that at Pep-Boys, and they also do it over at Advanced Auto.

Well, I got the smallest one they had, so I think I'll have to special order it. They don't list them by size (I don't think). I guess I could try another store, though.

I just checked around, and there are no Pep Boys, Autozone, or Advanced Auto stores in Madison. The best we got is Checker, which is where I went today. If anyone has any thoughts on a good car model to tell them, it looks like that's my only hope right now. (There aren't any junk yards that salvage used cores either).

Thanks again.

How well does the Ford heater core perform compared to the heater core or Aquacoil?

That heater core works great all I did was slap a 120mm fan onto it. Look at my Sig to see what temps I get with it.

Now compared to the Aquacoil I wouldn't know yet, I'm still waiting for my Aquacoil I should have it next week, I'm working on another setup.

The heater core will not fit in my new case without cutting up the case and I don't want to cut up a PC-60 case.

What are the dimmensions on the heater core you are using?

Im not sure why your having troubles other than they dont carry it... But When I bought the 2 different radiators that I have I asked to see it before I actually bought it... See if that is an option...

I'm not sure of the right height of it, too lazy to open up my case right now. but on the box the size is 7 /34"x6"x2" I would say it's about 9" tall do to the fittings at the top of the core which they don't acount for on the printing on the box.

hope that helps.

Edit: In the morning I'll open it up if you want the true size of it and I'll post a picture of it.

An update for everyone....

I ended up finding a heater core small enough at my local Bumper to Bumper store. The core's dimmensions are 6.5" wide by 8" tall. It has brass connectors and copper tubing. The BtoB part number is 94544. It cost me $30. I saw plenty that were cheaper, but I really wanted to fit this one in my case without cutting any more holes.
