I see many people with higher voltages with the same speeds as me. They are using aluminum heatsinks such as volcano 6cu +. I am using an SK6 with delta 38 (ASII is on). I am getting worse temps than they are. i also have the case panel off. They have the case closed and theyre still cooling better than me. I don't get why I am getting high temps!
right now with the vcore at 1.8 (default 1.75) and at the default 1.4GHz I am idling without cooling software at 40C!

I load at about 42-42.5C

Having the case closed has some benefits because the air is pulled through by multiple fans. You might just be recirculating hot air with the sides off. Cases were designed to have the sides on. I had a problem with stability when I ran my computer without a case on my table with a standard Volcano II with a 1333 Athlon. It locked up after a half hour at full load. The sink was hot to the touch.

my cpu temp goes up about 6C if I have the case panel on so i would think that having it off helps.

what are the MB temps? Are they 31C? If around that then you are getting GREAT temps that are right on what you should be getting. If it is a lot less than that, then you have something wrong with the mounting.

dude its just that asus probe that reports higher,i have the digi doc with a probe touching the core and it reads 5c cooler than what the asus probe and mbm says, plus my temps actually get hotter with the sides off because there is no airflow pattern

The chipset temp is at 28C
is that the MB temp?

if your heat sink is hot that just means its doing its job.
agreed though, short term bennefits go to case-off, but you'll be able to get overall better temps with the case-on by being able to take advantage of the Venturi or the Bernoulli Principles and establishing better airflow across your motherboard.

Which one is it? I only have 2 temps. One is CPU and one is the mobo chipset

I have 3 fans blowing out and only 1 blowing air inside. I'll be adding a 120mm fan to my side panel by modding it.
40C for an air cooled Tbird seems pretty good to me. What do you get when you load up your system? If you are under 50C you will not have any problems.
