View Full Version : Need Judges for T32 Artwork Contest

OK guys, I need judges for this contest. I have my own entries, and it IS hard to be impartial to my own entries.
I'd like to have a panel that is odd (3 or 5 members) to look at the categories (and it looks like we have 2: Best Photochop and Best Paint).
Again, another thing, if you have an entry in this contest in the thread here: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=410838, then please remember, that's gonna every so slightly disqualify you from judging your own work. :sn:
As for prizes? First prize in Paint gets my avatar (they can put whatever they want there as long as it is within forum specs/rules) for a month.
Winner of Photochop gets my sig for a month, and you can have whatever you want in there, again, as it is within forum rules.
I will do my best to post at least 3 times a week in the following forums so that people can see your win: Front Page Discussions, Folding Team, General Discussion, O/C Community.
Also... there might ALSO be another prize, depending on what I can get cooked up with David in his limited time.
THe contest will start on October 17, 2005, and run through at least the end of October, if not longer if we get a lot of submissions.
so guys, get photochoppin and mspainting!

Il do it, I never entered it so theres no favoritism...nor did I even look at the entrys
I think your post said you need odd judges? I guess I would qualify.
Also, no need to worry about me ever contributing artwork ... unless disjointed stick men count.

ok... t hat's 6 people so far. if i could get another 1 or 3, i'd be happy. Near the end of the contest, I'm gonna pull together all the "works of art" and send a copy to everyone in e-mail that is a judge, so you all have the same ones.
Do you all feel comfy doin' that?
sure ... 'cept for judgin' i just do what i am told.

Im tight with that, just maybe dont send one MASSIVE email, try sending multiple smaller emails to avoid any possible blocks by email providers limit.
I'll do it if ya' need more people.

understood. once i get all photochops/paints collected... i'll break them up, and discuss with everyone what thier limits are and such. Some places allow 1-2Mb attachments... some allow 1gb worth of attachments... LOL.
i'll be going with lowest common denominator

Instead of e-mails with the pictures, how about using some webspace and sending only the judges a link, then the judges could download a single zip file...just a thought.
This is what has to be done at work...as most companies only allow smaller e-mails and some do not allow any attachments...
This could be less work and headach for you...
also you could make the link public after the judges hav gotten theirs to make sure any bandwith limits are not exceeded b4 the judges get them.

also a good idea i didn't think of. i'll also consider that, and probably put it them up on a public server so that it doesn't eat up MY bandwidth.

Putting them on webspace is a good idea. Much better than trying to emial them around to all of us.

Are you all still up for it? I am in the process of final collections of submissions, and will put them in .zip format and give each of you the link as soon as competition is over and judging begins.
Just to be fair, i'll give you all 1 week to decide once you are given the link to the file, as i know people can get busy.

yes ... i am still odd ... and willing ... (and of doubtful artistic talent) ... but everyone appreciates creativity ... so even tho my standards may vary from others' i thinks it is good to have a cross secction to judge.

I am still up for it, but if someone wants to judge and there isn't a spot for them, I'd be willing to give it up. Just let me know when you need me through pm, chances are I will forget about this, so much going on right now, heh.

I looked at the other thread and only saw that 4 different people were entering with about 10 pieces of art total. Are you expecting many more. And I suggest you have an odd number of judges to eliminate ties.

after gathering what was there, there are 2 categories... (paint and Photoshop).... paint has about 5 different artists.... photoshop about 7 different artists.

Guys who are judges that I sent the link to.... Try to get your results back to me by wednesday of next week. The file is in .zip format, and please rank the winners in a 1rst through 5th format (have had 2 guys also offer thier avatars/sigs as rewards, so 1rst through 5th ought to give me a good average of points)

OK just to clarifie the judging. Rank top five photo's(artwork) reguardless of creator (as some peolpe sumbmited more than 1). Top 5 for both catogieres. I just want to clarify the rules.

Why not make this into a poll? Host all the work somewhere and have all of OCF vote on it. If not, i think i have a good eye, so i can do some judge work if asked.

Paint competition after 2 judges replying to me is shaping up with a definative #1 and #2.... #3 is a tossup right now...

Almost results.... may have to withold the photoshop results for a new round of judging on 3 or 4 of the entries. Photoshop has a clear #1.... but #'s 2 and 3 aren't so clear.... unless the 2 or so judges who haven't replied yet clearly set aside one of the 5 or so that are within 1 point of each other there... we may have to have a vote-off on those handful of entries.
paint on the otherhand... is decided except for #3...that could still change

Yeah ... except i was the wrong kind of odd on this one ... unreliable :bang head
RL (work) took hold of me that week and I after a quick first review and my inability to make a decision at the time caused me to defer my votes, by the time i got back to in on the friday the voting was over ... duh :rolleyes:
But thank goodness there were lots of other more reliable judges :clap: ( i can't comment tho on whether they were as odd as me :eh?: )
